C.L.A.R.O CELEBRATES ITS 6TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MORE UNITED THAN EVER

C.L.A.R.O’s new Executive Committee elected at the 6th annual General Meeting
C.L.A.R.O’s held its 6th Annual General Meeting on 26 November. The meeting took place in conditions of complete normality and harmony. The essential message of the Assembly is that C.L.A.R.O is more united than ever.
The Assembly debated events of the past week: the resignation of the party’s Secretary General and the unilaterally decided expulsion of the C.L.A.R.O councillor from the municipal group CLR-CLARO. In the discussion it was recognised that there could be hardly any doubt that these two events were related.
In two motions adopted unanimously, the Assembly deplored these efforts to divide and weaken C.L.A.R.O’s role of defender of the interests of Orihuela Costa.
It was recalled that C,L.A.R.O had survived an earlier incident of resignation followed by attempts to divide the party. This had been without success and C.L.A.R.O. had emerged more united as a result, securing majority support in Orihuela Costa in two successive municipal elections.
The Assembly was convinced that the latest attempts to divide the party would have the same result.
The Assembly took note but accepted the unjustified expulsion of C.L.A.R.O from the municipal group CLR-CLARO.
The Assembly approved C.L.A.R.O’s continued participation in the government but insisted that the C.L.A.R.O. team in the Playa Flamenca office of the Town Hall should have all the necessary means, including competences and finance, to carry out its work on behalf of the citizens of the coast.
The Assembly stressed that unity would be more necessary than ever in support of C.L.A.R.O in its future independent political role.
The Assembly elected a new Executive Committee with a term of office of one year in accordance with party statutes. Five of the outgoing members were re-elected and two vacant positions were decided.
The new Secretary General will be Jose Luis Montero who has an almost unequalled experience of Orihuela and Orihuela politics.
The second vacant post will be filled by Ragnhild Breivoll a very hard working and popular Norwegian lady member whose election confirms the strong contribution made to the party by Norwegian members and the importance of the Scandinavian community in Orihuela Costa.
Jimmy Badal was nominated Vice-President.
The complete lists is as follows:
Bob Houliston – President
Jose Luis Montero – Secretary General
Jimmy Badal – Vice President
Antonio Cerdan
Karl Failoni
Norah Bond
Ragnhild Breivoll
